Rocketman ★★★

Taron Egerton gives it his all, and the music's great (both the covers, and Margeson's score), but ultimately it just feels like any other dime-a-dozen musician biopic, albeit a very well-made one. Some of the musical numbers have glimmers of greatness (Crocodile Rock is exciting, Honky Cat is a silly-sudsy blast, the writing of Your Song is expectedly beautiful, etc.); while they're fun, none are stylish enough or inventive enough to thrill me.
