TJ D’s review published on Letterboxd :
A strong crime thriller/ morality tale from Sam Raimi. This film, coming on the heels of similar snowy stories of death and betrayal like Fargo and The Sweet Hereafter, works so well in part due to the direction matching the strong script and the performances of Bill Paxton (RIP) and Billy Bob Thonton. They play brothers who find 4 million dollars in the woods with a buddy. These three men--and their wives--devolve due to paranoia and selfishness. The lies accumulate a body count.
This film engages thoroughly from beginning to end. See it.
