Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

    ★★★

Margot Robbie dazzles as the titular Harley Quinn, this time going for a full on New York accent and ramping up the crazy even more than in Suicide Squad. There’s a scene where she’s cutting her hair in an attempt to get over Joker and her acting was so impressive it was actually reminiscent of the mirror scene from I, Tonya

    Baby Driver

    ★★★★½

This is kind of a weird post, but I just got one of those “on this day” memories on Facebook, and it’s been 3 years to the day since I decided to start reviewing movies.

Possibly even production design, editing and a couple of the smaller sound awards too.…

    YouTube review

First let me say this: if you hate everything about this movie, I completely understand, and if you love everything about this movie, I get that too. It’s a mixed bag for sure, but I have to say I lean more towards loving it than hating it.

The action sequences are well-helmed and that general sense of otherworldly adventure is ever-present. Rey and Kylo’s will-they-won’t-they dynamic is interesting as always and Adam Driver gives a great performance with the…
