21. Comedy Horror
Flight of the Conchords does horror comedy! That's a terrible stereotype but I don't know much about New Zealand filmmaking I guess, so this is what I have to compare it to. And it's bloody brilliant. This is a really good mix of horror elements and that dry wit that is so present in their brand of comedy and it works very well together. Morgana O'Reilly and Rima Te Wiata are wonderful as the daughter/mother combo and have great chemistry. There are some legitimate scary moments in this that work really well, and I was genuinely interested in figuring out what the twists were. I wish more of these actors had been in other movies but it seems like they are all relatively unknown - hopefully that changes though if they want it to! My only complaint was it was a bit long for my taste, but for the most part even when it felt like it dragged around the middle, there were enough funny moments that brought you back around and kept you interested.
