Lizard is cool. Monkey is funny.
This movie’s plot is so incomprehensible that I frequently had to consult the Wikipedia synopsis to keep up.
There are sequences that were so assaulting to my eyes and ears that I feel I’ve suffered permanent damage to my vision and that my tinnitus has worsened.
Bad filmmaking, bad editing, bad character work, bad screenwriting, and below average action that does not make up for all of the shitty components of this movie.
The 2014 Godzilla proved that these films *can* provide great action AND compelling human characters, so it’s beyond me why all of the subsequent films seem to be actively avoiding the latter while not even giving us enough action to be satisfied. It’s ridiculous and fun in the smallest of doses, but most of the time I just didn’t understand what was going on and I didn’t really care.
