Man alive, David O. Russell actually used to be a filmmaker. Whenever I rewatch this or THREE KINGS, I wonder what happened to him.
This is a stone-cold American masterpiece.
UPDATED: I cannot stop watching this movie. I'll be idly scrolling through Amazon Prime Video, and I'll think halfheartedly about watching one of the many (many) movies they offer that I haven't seen, and I'll click Play, and I'm watching ZODIAC again.
Ron Howard so fundamentally misses the point of his own movie that it’s insane. The whole thing is the Odyssey: one man’s journey to get home to his wife. (The name of the command/service module on the *actual mission* is named Odyssey.)
Marilyn is terrified of Jim’s departure and almost avoids saying goodbye; she loses her ring in the shower; Jim is tortured and lonely and trying to keep his crew together. And how does the movie end? Bullshit voice-over…
