At least director Adam Wingard makes this one LOOK better than the other recent Godzilla films, and there are some impressively candy-colored visuals, but geez this damn screenplay is a mess. It takes SO much time trying to move chess pieces into place and explain stuff, which is a terrible strategy for something so fundamentally ridiculous.
