At times incredibly heartbreaking, but something is missing... I have no problems with glacially paced movies, but this one unfortunately seems to go in reverse in the second half. Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
No surprise here, but this is a triumph in editing. There’s just not a moment wasted. It feels like it’s constantly in motion while still leaving space for the emotional weight behind it all to sink in. Thelma Schoonmaker is my queen, and she absolutely deserves to win her fourth Oscar. Usually, my brain gets fatigued with any movie after the 2.5 hour mark, so I have a rule that if you cross the mark, you better damn justify it……

Beyond Fest screening at the Aero Theater
I had a panic attack about 45 minutes in because I was NOT enjoying the film up until that point. I thought the dialogue was rather weak, the acting not that much better, and the pacing particularly sluggish. It felt like it kept starting and stopping, almost as if the film was afraid to truly commit. This, combined with the glaring flaws in the writing and acting, prevented me from fully engaging.
