daanish’s review published on Letterboxd:
after sitting on my thoughts for a day and reading a bunch of other reviews made across the platform, i personally think that this was just alright.
i saw some high, high praise for this in the weeks leading up to when i watched it, but i can't seem to find where all of this praise really is in the film. sure, i liked the start of it so much - it slapped me in the face in the best way possible. right after those opening moments, however, the assembly of everything just felt a little messy to me. the songs from the soundtrack, while obviously solid on their own, didn't feel like it truly "belonged" in the scenes they were chosen for. as the film went on, i just kept getting this "bleh" feeling, and it increased gradually with most of the scenes that came next. it definitely decreased at times, but by small amounts.
the ending. fuck, man. i didn't like that ending at all.
i want to highlight this one review left by my friend holli but, while you're at it, please take a look at the other reviews ive liked that are marked below - read the reviews left by women. please.
that's all from me! i look forward to hearing everyone else's opinions as the days go by.
