friendly neighborhood walking cliché
i think one of the best compliments to give this is that it actually gave me anxiety a few times. tension: great. maika monroe: great and hot. the framing does some of the heavy lifting, making you ~feel~ her solitude and paranoia.
i started to feel like the leap she makes from curious to hysterical was kind of unwarranted, but that’s most likely the point- bad shit can happen without someone leaving a dead cat on your doorstep first, or whatever. believe women!
last shot is 👌🏻
almost nothing feels more like a screen adapted novella from the king family than this. i like a lot of stuff joe hill has written, but when it comes to kids, he’s just not his dad.
anyways; movie not great. now i know why they let us get frustrated with the whole ‘cops-aren’t-listening-to-the-person-with-psychic-abilities’ subplot. because when they immediately take it seriously without question, it looks fucking stupid. i wish i were more easily pleased than i already am.
