like ants to a severed ear in a field, i may not always know why this is happening or why i’m eating it up, but i’m glad i am.
shocked by the pretty straight-forward narrative. not at all shocked by the batshit script, tone, photography, acting, editing, etc. etc. but it’s safe to say i’m all in on the lynch brand.
laura dern appears on screen for the first time here as she always should in film or in life- from the darkness slowly walking into a lovely, warm pink light.
in·del·i·ble - (of ink or a pen) making marks that cannot be removed. • not able to be forgotten or removed.
simple and overwhelming. what a fucking script. what fucking performances. a love story isn’t very interesting without heartbreak and this movie is absolutely captivating.
my second favorite movie about two ladies hanging out by the beach that i’ve seen in the last few days.
the existential apathy is strong with this one. i think the least traditional film i’ve ever seen and i enjoyed it, but it’s not necessarily for me either. it is a filmmaker’s film. to be studied and talked about with someone at the very least. otherwise, you’re left holding a big ol’ bag of ‘what the everliving fuck’.
