Danzel Vaughn’s review published on Letterboxd:
welp, i ate that up. hook, line, sinker.
even with the critical love it’s been getting, i went in with super low expectations, so that could have something to do with how much i enjoyed it. but boy, did i enjoy it.
never takes itself too seriously. the exposition is wholly obvious, but handled perfectly by henry czerny (who makes every scene he’s in super fun), mark o’brien and dear ol adam brody. fuckin love that guy. and as far as final girls go, holy shit did i love samara weaving here. charismatic, chemistry with everyone she was on screen with, selling us the emotion and fear while being believably competent enough to survive.. she was acting her ass off in what, at the end of the day, is just a violent, fun, fuck-the-one-percent, devil worshiping romp.
