Michael Coombs’s review published on Letterboxd:
I knew this was going to be a bit off the walls, but some of the reviews I've skimmed made me think it was going to be good. My wife wanted to turn it off two minutes in. Literally, the second the young Asian boy enters the secret lair, she was done. But I shamed her into watching the whole thing and we both ended up enjoying it... I guess. Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo have great chemistry and are pretty funny in the two lead roles. Wiig is less funny as the main villain. There were some serious Austin Powers vibes to this script with a couple of clear homages, but this movie isn't nearly as funny. Both musical numbers could hit the cutting room floor and make the movie better overall. I found this moderately enjoyable and reasonably funny, but it's not a movie I'd want to watch again and I was hoping for more.
5/10 (Decent)
