Michael Coombs’s review published on Letterboxd:
Dang, the first Conjuring movie took me completely by surprise and was so good... and now here we are two sequels and a whole extended universe later and I’m just over it. Not scary. None of the jump scares got me. The whole based on true story schtick feels just like that... a schtick. The atmosphere that made the first film so awesome is completely absent here, or maybe just poorly imitated. Vera Farmiga is still good in this, so that’s something. The rest of the cast is blah.
