Matt Reifschneider’s review published on Letterboxd:
Truthfully, I'm still not sure how I feel about this movie. It starts off fairly straightforward (even with its vampire yakuza story), but by the third act it is completely and utterly off the rails, almost feeling like a comedy that plays it so serious that it can't stop itself from going full out bat shit insane. It's majorly flawed, but oh so entertaining.
However, having the main villain of the film be someone dressed in a giant cloth frog costume who repeated beats the shit out of and kills people without ever saying a word, might be the best thing I've see on film all year. Never underestimate Takashi Miike's ability to deliver thoughtful insanity on film.
