    Microwave Massacre

31 days of horror day 27: Microwave Massacre (1979). This one was truly a horrific experience for me. One of the shittiest movies I’ve ever watched and I was bored out of my mind. Yet I was too stubborn to give up on it and watched the whole thing. The only good thing in it was lots and lots of bare boobs. I freaking hated Jackie Vernon’s “acting” and the jokes. This could be good if watched with good friends as a joke while being drunk. Don’t know since I definitely won’t give it another try.

  • American Mary

    American Mary

    ★★★★

Got interested in American Mary (2012) by the Soska sisters after seeing Katharine Isabelle’s role in Ginger Snaps. This one’s about a medical school student that gets in a bit of a different, darker kind of surgery business after getting into money trouble. Katharine is brilliant and the movie’s great, too. Bought Soska Sisters’ version of Rabid last week - I guess I need to check that one asap, too 💉

  • Bride of Re-Animator

    Bride of Re-Animator

    ★★★★

31 days of horror day 26: Bride of Re-Animator (1990). I’m always a bit iffy when it comes to sequels but this one’s made by Brian Yuzna, the creator of the amazing horror comedy called Society, so I had to order it. And it delivered! Had the same brilliant dark humor as the first movie and you just gotta love Dr. Herbert West’s very careless attitude when it comes to stealing bodies and body parts and killing people.

  • Saint Maud

    Saint Maud

    ★★★★½

31 days of horror day 25: Saint Maud (2019). Amazing slow burn horror drama about a nurse who’s bit too passioned to save a dying patient’s soul. Incredible role by Morfydd Clark. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! Can’t wait to get the physical copy 😍

  • The City of the Dead

    The City of the Dead

31 days of horror day 24: Horror Hotel/City of the Dead (1960). Christopher Lee, witches, worshipping Satan - count me in! Really enjoyed this one and especially Christopher’s role 🔥

  • The Mist

    The Mist

    ★★★★

31 days of horror day 24: The Mist (2007). Was supposed to watch something new but The Mist was on TV and I kind of just had to watch it YET AGAIN because I freaking love the ending. One of the best movie endings ever. Complete misery and Dead Can Dance playing in the background - perfection!

  • Blood and Black Lace

    Blood and Black Lace

    ★★★★

31 days of horror day 22: 6 donne per l’assassino/Blood and Black Lace (1964) by Mario Bava. One of the best giallos. Great plot, great scenes and it looks stunning! 🩸

  • The Bride of Frankenstein

    The Bride of Frankenstein

    ★★★½

31 days of horror day 21: The Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Decided to go with a good classic today. Never been a huge fan of Boris as Frankenstein - he looks great but the growling and talking is a bit too much. The bride is of course gorgeous 😍

  • Dread

    Dread

    ★★

Watched Dread (2009) and all it managed to do was pretty much just annoy me. The story is great but the execution sucked. The characters were annoyingly edgy, so was the soundtrack and the only part I somewhat liked was the steak-scene near the end. It’s frustrating when there’s all the ingredients to have a great film but it’s ruined by bad casting and bad directing. Oh well, enough whining, to the sell-pile it goes!

  • Climax

    Climax

    ★★★★

31 days of horror day 20: Climax (2018). I have no idea what to say about this movie except that it’s brilliant, love the soundtrack, LOVED the dancing and it was both distressing and fun. One of the most original ideas I’ve seen in a long time. Awesome!

  • Horror Express

  • Frozen

    Frozen

    ★★½

31 days of horror day 17: Frozen (2010). From the maker of Hatchet. An okay thriller about getting stuck on a chairlift. Nothing too imaginative or special but still entertaining.
