Darren Carver-Balsiger’s review published on Letterboxd :
Vapid lives. Art without artistry. Fucking within the family. Maps to the Stars is a scathing satire on the incestuous state of affairs within Hollywood; the vanity-led, nepotistic bullshit of the industry. Lashings of dark humour set the tone, one of contempt and straight-faced irony. The characters cry inside big, empty houses. These awful people accept fate, letting their fucked up lives reoccur for others. Julianne Moore gives a fearless performance, embracing the despair of pure vacuousness. Maps to the Stars hates itself, a product of an industry so lost to its worst excesses. David Cronenberg has always been willing to pick apart media and art, and even now he doesn't give a fuck. Good.
