    What struck me in this rewatch is that it didn’t seem as awful as I remembered. It really has some iconic scenes and while it narratively isn’t anywhere near the level of the first film, it didn’t completely fail either. I guess in my mind this and Revolutions were equally bad, but I think that feeling is almost completely attributable to that 3rd entry in the franchise. Unless that one too will turn out to be less dreadful as I remember, but somehow I don’t see that happening….

Characterization is completely absent, but here it doesn't feel like as big a deal as it did with Inception. That film had an emotional component that should have been fleshed out way more.
