  Takes a much more measured, poetic approach to these kinds of questions than most movies touching on AI, cybernetic ensoulment, etc., and I appreciated that. 

  Sometimes it’s so spare it threatens to disappear, but I think it resolves nicely.

  Mostly doesn’t have “acting,” more like a bunch of sentient Twitter feeds running around an island. Bowen Yang seems to have graduated from the Dan Levy Acting Academy.

  If it wanted to be a critique it should have been more scathing and if it wanted to be a rom-com it should’ve just leaned further in, this snarky but not too snarky tone is a total snoozefest.

  Plus, for a movie where they talk about sex so much, it’s profoundly unerotic, and when sex does occur, it basically always comes with negative consequences. Just felt very sanitized.

  Glad Margaret Cho got paid, of course.
