Riley’s review published on Letterboxd:
There’s so much wasted screentime and potential in Josh Boone’s cursed adaptation of The New Mutants. It starts off on rocky ground and continues to crumble until the final sequence, which is, to be fair, the only compelling part of the movie. The whole time it feels like it’s just shouting into the void and purposefully making a fool out of itself. It’s drab, uninspiring, and a total misfire.
I feel like 20th Century made a mistake in greenlighting this. Given all that’s happened during its production and the post-prod delays, I can see why the three-year delay happened.
