Michael Haneke Paneke’s review published on Letterboxd:
70mm screening in a packaged audience. And I got to sit in the dead center of the very first row. BLISS!
I had remembered that the final scenes with aging Dave in the hotel violated film grammar (shot/reverse shot logic breaks down), but I was surprised to see that a handful of them are literally impossible: two Bowmans in the same shot (the back of young Bowman’s head still in the frame as we see old Bowman eating dinner.)
I…don’t know how to feel about this yet. Except that I think I prefer the version that exists in my memory.
