Week 39 - Auteurs - Luis Buñuel
I've not explored surrealist cinema yet and I'd only seen one Buñuel film before this, which was Simon of the Desert. The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie doesn't quite move at a pace I would like. Perhaps part of the issue was that I was expecting it to be stranger, but then again I was less fond of the totally bizarre films I've seen. I also suspect I was missing some of the cultural aspects of the time it was satirising. Still there's still fun to have watching the group of bourgeoisie constantly being interrupted from dining.
