All time gr8 movie for lips of all shapes and sizes!
To elaborate, I made it through a half hour of The Greatest Showman. I admire the confidence of the camera and the performances. This *feels* like a great musical, from its opening shot.
This film celebrates something truly ugly, and it celebrates it in every moment, in every frame, and every line of dialogue. No amount of Hugh Jackman's charming smiles can mask the core stink of exploitation, exoticism, and some of the most nakedly ugly white savior-ism I've ever seen.
Black Panther is a superhero movie, an afrofuturist paradise, a celebration of black excellence, a celebration of black womanhood, a condemnation of colonialism, imperialism, white supremacy, an addition to the very small collection of Marvel films with compelling villains, one of the few superhero movies that can make the claim that "the hero and villain aren't so different" and have the receipts to back it up, a legitimate clash in philosophy about how to combat imperialism, and a damn fine blockbuster.
