This latest adaptation of the LM Alcott novel --which is the fourth film I've seen of the fearless March sisters -- is now my favorite one, with transcendent performances by Pugh and Ronan. My only sticking point is that the story jumps back and forth through time. Which was a little confusing, but would've been a total headache for me had I not already been aware of how the story goes. I wonder why director Gerwig choose to go this route? Beyond that, I got no complaints.
Harley Quinn splitting with "Mr. J" and the rest of the god-awful Suicide Squad members made for a more entertaining film. I came into BoP with low expectations and it exceeded that. Robbie was stellar in the lead role, really immersing herself and having fun with her character. And I enjoyed the supporting cast of Winstead as Huntress and Jurnee-Smollett as Black Canary. But more canary cry PLEASE! There wasn't enough of that super power to quench my thirst.
One of my Top 5 favorite movies of all time. I watched it a total of EIGHT times in theaters. SP is magnificent on a grand scale with a great (and gorgeous) lead cast, dynamic action scenes, solid story that blends fantasy with reality, and a kick-ass soundtrack. It's the most fun I've had at the movies in quite some time!
