For reasons I don’t need to get into, my opinion of The Master has been lukewarm since I saw it in theaters. I recently wanted to revisit it, and I couldn’t be happier to revise my viewpoint. First I’ll admit I have have some blind spots with the MCU. I had a lot of fun watching this, and forced myself to say “yes, and” to plots, characters, and motives that were unfamiliar to me. Ultimately it felt like more noise than substance. There were too many swirling plots to allow any emotional arcs to feel fully realized. That said, it’s harmless fun and I’m glad I saw it in IMAX 3D. Also, Why did they have to fight in Wakanda? Let them live in peace!
