A double-edged dagger of ridiculous.
While no one can throw a camera around an interior quite like James Wan, Malignant’s finale really jumped the shark for me. I couldn’t help but laugh at the wild twist that was played out so oddly, it made me wonder if it was meant to be as stupid as it seemed.
Still, Wan’s frenetic camera work is inspiring and his direction is obviously top notch. He even made Annabelle Wallis seem like a good actress instead of the nepotism hire she typically is.
