Derrick Deane’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's painfully predictable and slow throughout much of the first half of the film with foreshadowing galore and CG characters I'm supposed to care about but ultimately don't. You see every turn coming as we slog our way through the first hour before getting to the eventual showdown which of serves as a bit of overarching social commentary (can'twe all just get along?). Admittedly, I remembered very little of the first film and such will likely be the case with this sequel. Dull, forgettable, and unnecessary.
That being said, Michelle Pfeiffer gives a strong turn and Angelina Jolie disappears into the role of Maleficent. At best this is a rental/streaming option but certainly not worth the time or money to watch in theaters.
