If not for the incessant gender politics and poorly executed plot twist at the end, this would actually be a fun movie to watch. It captures a lot of the fun from the original Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones franchise run. Whereas those characters were well-rounded and fun to see banter with one another, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson play two bland stereotypes thrown together to figure out who the real bad guy in the film is. Hemsworth is the lazy, dumb, show-off while Thompson is the smart, strong-willed emblem of modern femininity (she doesn't need a man slowing her down *eye roll*). Overall story is decent and Emma Thompson's cameo is excellent.
