Dean Walker’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie is not what I was expecting.
Conceptually and thematically this movie had a lot more than what I was expecting. It explores and addresses the premise in much more depth then I expected, and has something to say, if not a little confused.
But I just didn’t find it that funny. Taika Waititi was incredibly funny, as per always, but I didn’t find much else funny.
One thing I would like to highlight is the use of the IP and the cameo. This movie is filled with cameos, and a few notable use of IPs, but it improves the movie instead of just pointing at a thing and smiling. Apart from a few dodgy performances from YouTubers.
Overall it was fun, the CGI looked good and explored its already interesting premise in much detail.
