This movie is a masterpiece. Nic Cage growing into something bigger, interdimensional throughout the process of his grief is stunning.
Simultaneously this leads me to believe that the whole movie is a fantasy novel written by Mandy. Look at the post credit scene in which you can see some of the drawings that Mandy made of Red.
The title cards appearing throughout the film could be interpreted as different chapter headings.

Damn, I wish I'd seen this movie in cinema!
As a big Nic Cage connoisseur and a H.P. Lovecraft fan (only his works, not his racism!) I have to admit I really enjoyed this movie.
I think Richard Stanley managed to give the story a new touch, it is way more entertaining than the older movie about the short novel, directed by Huan Vu.
