There’s not enough words to describe how beautiful and emotional this film by Wong Kar-Wai is.
In the Mood for Love (花樣年華) tells a simple yet intimate story about two neighbors in British Hong Kong in which they both suspect that their respective spouses are cheating on them with each other and they form a platonic relationship.
Wong Kar-Wai creates such sexual tension between the two leads in the film without having to have them being physical with each other, such as kissing or having sexual relations and I really applaud him for that.
The film displays colorful palettes of grey and reds throughout every frame that shows the vibrancy of the emotions of love and the strong connection between the two leads. Maggie Cheung’s character wears such beautiful and colorful qipao’s throughout the film and each dress is different and elegant.
