“tasty, tasty, beautiful fear”

recently i’ve been thinking a lot about how horror movies are usually either truly scary or truly well made, and so rarely both. this is the rare occasion for me when i feel it fits into both categories naturally, churning out terrifying sequences but also giving me something interesting to look at and chew over. a coming of age horror movie, and a mainstream remake (or adaptation) at that, how surprised i initially was to find that this was as enjoyable as it was uneasy to watch. it definitely held up after a few years, and i can only hope that the second chapter clicks as well (let’s go chastain let’s GO)
