Deckk’s review published on Letterboxd:
100-word review: The Man With No Name (iconic wandering gunslinger) walks into town and *Record Scratch* *Freeze Frame* it’s Yojimbo — a direct remake. In fact, I’d recommend watching Yojimbo first, because the ten extra minutes it packs do the clarity of the narrative some good. The story fits Edo period Japan better than the American frontier I think, yet A Fistful of Dollars confirmedly puts the ‘wild’ in Wild West; the two or three ‘humanitarian’ scenes in here appear inserted solely by virtue of being in the original. The main being less untouchable than his ronin counterpart surely makes for engaging cinema.
Part of the March 2021 March To the West challenge; 8th out of 10 films.
