More a remake than a sequel, and not a very good remake, even by early 90’s sci-fi b-movie standards. You get the rehashed plot with more underhanded business dealings and less alligator action. This is the bar by which all other Italian horror are measured. The gore is beyond excessive. There’s some delightfully violent moments, like the execution of the warlock. If that’s all the movie offered though, this would probably be a three-star effort.
But it’s so much more. The cinematography is gorgeously foggy and dark, and that score is one of the finest out of Italy.…
