Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

"This is why I don't read books."

It starts off pretty well, so it surprised me that everyone was shitting on this movie. But as it goes on you realize that the characters really don't evolve anymore than their one-note introductions, and the things in the movie just kind of happen to the characters for little or no reason.

Still it's super well directed, the cast is good, and its really cool to see Stephen Gammell's illustrations brought to life…

  • Sleepwalkers

Another Stephen King movie that's so dumb it's fun.

Not sure if I should recommend this movie because not its ridiculous amount of cameos (including Mark Hamill, Ron Pearlman, Joe Dante, John Landis, Clive Barker, Tobe Hopper, and of course, Stephen King), or for this film's valuable insight into the "house cats vs. vampires" war that's apparently been raging for many centuries.

Wow, it's been a while since I've been this enamored and engulfed by a film! As my coworker just said, "it's so rare that a film is actually better than everyone says it is!"

    Me encanta!!

    "Well, am I terrific?"

A great example of how good an exploitation film can be, this film actually toes the line between a couple different types of exploitation, from sex, to drugs, to teenage angst! The script is awesome because about every 20 minutes it takes a left turn you didn't expect. The story has a couple moments that are a bit unrealistic and the direction is a little strange, but the acting really holds the whole thing together. Ann-Margaret is really killer in this (though I probably said the same thing about Viva Las Vegas.)

    And that ending!!

I don't think I fully "got it", but I really, really dug it.

How come other countries can do animated features for adults, and when America tries it we just get Sausage Party?

    "I ate a baby there!"

Some things don't change much over time and that's exactly the way people like it. As far as tone and intent Invader Zim hasn't changed at all and fans are going to love that. The major change here is the art direction and design, and that's all greatly improved!

I'm not even a huge fan of this series and I was pretty into this: Some of the jokes are really great, there's some animation surprises throughout, and I never thought I'd say this but, I think I'd even watch another Invader Zim series if it continued from here!
