"Fear is the true nature of God."

Pretty damn incredible! A collaboration between Shinji Higuchi (of the Gamera trilogy,) Hideaki Anno (of Evangelion,) and Studio Ghibli (do I really need to list anything here?) and if the creative teams working together behind it wasn't enough on it's own, it's also discretely a Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind prequel!? A great spin on a kaiju film and a horror film, great practical effects, and great use of voice over narration. Yeah, just loved this. I hope that this inspires more cool stuff in the future!

"It's not one monster it's a giant horde."

A found footage style docudrama about making the scrapped Daiei film that would eventually lead to them making the first Gamera film. The idea has potential but it's just executed super poorly. The writing is bad, the acting is bad, it's poorly shot and directed, and it features After Effects level special effects.

This is pretty much a weird oddity for kaiju nerds only.

Fine I guess, but it's not really a movie, more of a glorified VFX reel. And why would you copy/recreate shots from 200 million dollar movies if you know they're not going to look as good?

I don't think I fully "got it," but I really, really dug it.

How come other countries can do animated features for adults, and when America tries it we just get Sausage Party?

    "I ate a baby there!"

Some things don't change much over time and that's exactly the way people like it. As far as tone and intent Invader Zim hasn't changed at all and fans are going to love that. The major change here is the art direction and design, and that's all greatly improved!

I'm not even a huge fan of this series and I was pretty into this: Some of the jokes are really great, there's some animation surprises throughout, and I never thought I'd say this but, I think I'd even watch another Invader Zim series if it continued from here!
