    Doctor X

"How would you like to meet a ghost in here, eh baby?"

A "which creepy doctor is the serial killer?" whodunnit! It's not great, but it's very watchable (especially if you have macabre taste like me), also it's amusing to see what criminal science they use that was actually correct and how much of it is very wrong now. Plus that early two-strip Technicolor film looks surprisingly great!

Also the above quote is going to be my new pickup line.

    Stage Door

"Peaceful little haven you've got here."

Another great film with a mostly all-female cast! This one has Katharine Hepburn vs. Ginger Rogers as rivals and roommates in a boarding house for theater artists. This film features some really hilarious, super snappy dialogue throughout that that made me check multiple times going "are you sure Howard Hawks didn't have anything to do with this?!"

There's also a super dark theme that lies under the whole film that really comes to the forefront with a death at the climax. I really appreciated that and it feels pretty rare for a musical from the 1930s!

You know there was parts of this that I really liked, but unfortunately the writing throughout is really godawful. The characters constantly talk like they were written by someone who has never heard two people have a conversation before, and things constantly happen super randomly in the story which really undermine all of the drama the story is trying to build. The last episode especially is the biggest piece of fluff I've ever seen. I mean it's nice you…

    Slightly French

"I'll be as French as french fries!"

A simple twist/update on the Pygmalion story. Sirk's direction is subtle and mostly straightforward but still very effective and this is the biggest role I've seen Dorothy Lamour in and she really kills it! It's a shame she's mostly known for playing eye candy in Bing and Bob pictures.

I don't think I fully "got it", but I really, really dug it.

How come other countries can do animated features for adults, and when America tries it we just get Sausage Party?

    Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus

    "I ate a baby there!"

Some things don't change much over time and that's exactly the way people like it. As far as tone and intent Invader Zim hasn't changed at all and fans are going to love that. The major change here is the art direction and design, and that's all greatly improved!

I'm not even a huge fan of this series and I was pretty into this: Some of the jokes are really great, there's some animation surprises throughout, and I never thought I'd say this but, I think I'd even watch another Invader Zim series if it continued from here!
