  Met Fear Street bedacht R.L. Stine de beruchte straat waar opvallend veel slachtoffers een gewelddadige en onnatuurlijke dood sterven. Netflix heeft er een trilogie over gemaakt. Deel één stelt niet teleur. Daar waar Goosebumps net te lief was, een te aaibaar monster, gooit Fear Street het over een veel donkerdere boeg. Meer geweld, overtuigende engerds en lekker duistere humor.

  Wes Craven combineert bloederige horror met sociaal-maatschappelijke kritiek en een modern spookhuis. Hoe hij de set en personages aankleedt hint naar zoveel meer waanzin.

  Jammer van het iets te afgeronde einde. Verder vond ik dit zeer genietbaar.

  A very mixed bag of emotions, I settled on two stars. Allow me to explain.

  In several interviews with director Lukas Dhont, I read he wanted to make a movie about a friendship between two boys, Remi and Leo. A friendship that is intimate and brotherly. Thats how they feel, like two brothers. The moment they put step into highschool, the other students giggle about Remi and Leo. Are they gay...?

  Remi isn't bothered by the comments. Leo is. So,…

  Its like Ghostbusters, but with the cool as always Jamie Foxx, vampires instead of ghosts, and I wouldn't be surprised if the writers hang around with Snoop Dogg before putting one letter on paper. I liked it, though it could have had more of an edge.
