Gorgeous semi-sequel / love letter / tribute / fairy tale remaining of Creature from the Black Lagoon. Del Toro is well on his way to become (if he isn't already) a cult classics director.
No. I don't like it when horror relies on sound effects, editing, and gory apparitions to accomplish some cheap jumps and scares. It's to much 'American Horror Story' for me.
Add to that a ridiculous script and subpar acting, and you'll get a film like this one. A complete travesty, the kind of movie that gives the genre a bad name.
American and spaghetti meet in this wonderful western/comedy from Tie West. Not since 'My Name is Nobody' do I remember a film merging the two genres so successfully. All the actors are very well cast and, it's obvious that they set out to make a film that would be a tribute to the classics, but also stand on its own for being different. Great work, great film!
