i legitimately love how many things in this movie were so unapologetically Asian (and for Asian people) that they did not care to take time and explain them for general (read: white, american) audiences.
the acting is rote, the comedy doesn’t land for me, the characters’ actions and conflicts are all handled so strangely, and i do not think jon m. chu is a very good director– but if only for the wedding scene, i hope the production designer for this movie gets the courtesy Oscar nom that is usually reserved for some boring ass period piece where all the dresses have seventy angles
