Maybe the first shamelessly-contemporary rom-com I’ve seen so far where the ultra-modern elements didn’t make me wanna gag. Have heard lots of comparisons to Sally Rooney here, but I find this so much more captivating than Normal People, which I haven’t really thought about since watching it. This already hasn’t left my mind in the ten hours since I finished, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it’ll linger for much longer. One of the movies that makes me glad this website exists, because I thoroughly enjoyed it but am desperate to see everyone else make sense of it’s resolution.
Also, this movie and Suspiria prove it: you can make a movie as long as you want if you give it to me in chapters. It’s like tricking my brain then. “This ain’t a movie, it’s a book. I’m smart for watching this.”
