Inside Llewyn Davis ★★★★★

There’s something relieving in a sort of unexplainable way how the Coens are able to find the tragedy and the comedy in a character like Llewyn. Life has torn him down to the point where he is just wandering around in a cycle of misery with nothing but his music. Yet it isn’t depressing. In fact, much of it is pretty hilarious. To me, this is the Coens most real (and best) movie. So much of it just feels so natural and I can’t explain why. If I’m in a lull I’ll just put this on and for some reason it always helps me cope with whatever I’m dealing with. It’s like cinematic comfort food. One of my all time favorites.
