Nomadland

Nomadland ★★★½

A story of flowing, drifting, and simply existing, even if its a bit too aimless and occasionally comes off as manipulative at times. Zhao’s direction feels almost effortless though, partially due to the intimate and warm presentation but also in how genuine the performances she gets from her actors feel. There’s an authentic and lived in quality to every person Fern encounters, each with their own story and reasons for where they are. In a way it makes you feel like a part of the community that this film is documenting. Probably won’t remember much of anything about it but I can at least appreciate some of what it’s doing.
