Possessor ★★½

Some of interesting ideas from Cronenberg between corporations and dehumanization, here with the mind literally being taken over to do the job. Unfortunately for me, it seemed more focused on the admittedly terrific practical effects, they’re surprisingly gruesome, in a visceral and surreal sort of way, upsetting imagery all around. That’s probably the point Cronenberg wants to make I guess? So much of it is treated in such a cold way but I found myself connecting more so with the body horror and what terrifying fate awaited the next person than anything else he was trying to explore. I guess that’s on me though.
