Visually, Mad God is incredible to watch. Narratively, however, it is so disappointing. The story is incredibly disjointed, many storylines are introduced and almost immediately forgotten, and there is almost no payoff in the end.
The one visual element that was extremely jarring was the inclusion of live-action footage of human characters, none of whom are all that essential to the story. It’s heartbreaking to admit it but although Mad God is impressive in its visuals it really does leave too much to be desired in it’s narrative.

Mulligan and Burnham are absolutely stellar, I love the vibrant nature, intentions, and message of this film; after all who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned female rage/revenge story? The execution however, feels complicated.
