I’ve been stoked to see this film since the trailer dropped a couple of months ago and announced the return of Ti West into the murky waters of horror with a period piece slasher. If there was nothing else I could say about this film, I could at least say that the attempt of this film is wholly sincere. This is a tough subject to tackle, maybe even tougher in a camp slasher. Gay conversion camps, inherently, are scary places, the idea of taking impressionable youth and trying to keep them from exploring themselves and finding themselves and using manipulation and torture (physical and emotional) to stop that process from happening.
