Film peaked in 2017 after Boss Baby was released and has been on a clear downward trajectory ever since. Prove me wrong.
“Just be a rock.”
Seems like we’ve been waiting on this film to hit UK screens an age, thankful to Odeon Limitless for an early screening. A film that I’ve seen so hyped on here that I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the expectations. Thankfully, it did. I’d be hard pressed to find anything immediately at fault with this film, the easiest 5 stars I’ve given to a first time watch in a long…
“I will avenge you, father. I will save you, Mother. I will kill you, Fjonir.”
An immersive, intense and gory epic that proves Robert Eggers is one of the best directors working today. I was immediately hooked into this brutal world of Nordic revenge, a real sense of what this time in history was like, a film that while having it’s slower moments is never far from bone crunching and tense action set pieces. A gorgeous…
“John Tucker, there's only one guy out there for me, but you are not him.”
A very mid 2000s teenage romantic comedy/revenge movie. The first half is actually rather entertaining, with four high school girls taking on the ‘popular guy’ but by the end of the second half things take a rather boring and predictable turn. It sadly falls into the tropes of lots of this eras teen comedies.
The cast are likeable and charismatic at least, they’re just let…
“So sorry for the coarse language!”
Another very entertaining addition to the Jackass canon. Not quite as good as Jackass Forever itself but there’s certainly stunts and laughs as great as that movie. It’s still a lot of fun just watching these guys goof around on set and behind the scenes, with the talking head moments here being just as entertaining as the stunts themselves.
It was nice to get a bigger look at the newbies…
“We raided Nickelodeon Junior Studios. The toons fought back, Paw Patrol attacked sergeant Henderson, the doctor say, he’ll never have kids.”
There’s no reason for this to be as entertaining as it actually is. I’ve never seen anything involving Chip and Dale before but that honestly didn’t really matter in the context of the film. It’s a film that clearly has a lot of love for these characters and the animation genre as a whole, pastiching…
“Can the spider come out and play?!”
Well, guess I got a new favourite film of the year and favourite MCU movie in one go. It was great to see this in a packed out cinema, with plenty of lovely reactions to even the littlest moments here. Spider-Man is my all time favourite hero, and this film, for me, ticked all my boxes. I’m not going to spoil anything but for as much fan service as…
