Considering Tjahjanto's background, this may be the closest thing I could label as action horror; you excuse the basic character work because you just HAVE to see what they go through, pure hell on earth. Psychos with machetes turning into red mush and showering in blood, all in beautiful Uwais choreography, mindblowing physicality by EVERYONE, and crazy camera work. I can label it as a horror spin on The Raid, but really, this is its own monster

I've heard that this is the worst one so far; UMM, NO? Even more exotic locations, more dynamic choreography, it compiles the best setpieces of the previous two with even crazier lightning choices, longer takes and indonesian action influences. Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman fighting Keanu, is this what heaven feels like? And they have Donnie Yen for the next one??? I'm convinced Stahelski and McQuarrie are the only ones who can revive american action

Those first 16 minutes and Keanu as the lead make such a difference, and the carnage is always related to him killing the past; details like the Continental being hidden under a modern hotel, or saying he's back in the basement of a church. I thought it would be less impressive after so many years, but nope, still as effective, precise and cold, much like John

I was expecting to at least laugh at it like Venom 1 but it killed my mood instantly, peak rancid corporate crap of videogame cutscenes taped together with reshoots, but here Matt Smith struggles to inject a tiny spec of personality into it. The fact that it even made profit is making me lose all hope on humanity and the market
