The cinematography is gorgeous. Julianne Moore lying naked on her bed with her hairless cat next to her, that shot belongs in the Louvre.
And the character of Gloria is iconic.

But somehow the emotions don't come across. The film feels sedated. Often the scenes are way too short.

    But I wanna love it.

I hate the palm trees. I wish it would rain.

A communist Barbra. Mature ending. Epic love story. One of the best songs ever.

Her apartment with that tiny red kitchen. To die for.

Slightly hilarious how Babs seemingly refused to wear time period-appropriate costumes. Because of her I was initially unsure what time it was set in.

Yes, it might be a little overdramatic. But that’s cinema, baby. I loved that they didn’t go for an historically accurate depiction of events. They gave us a somewhat happy end.
    And that cinematography was gorgeous.

    My girl…

It’s weird to be euphoric for an uncomfortable, painful film. But it’s just staggering. Poignant.
It left me breathless, with knots in my stomach. Cinema is supposed to evoke emotions. This film achieved that, not many did so far at Venice. And with what’s happening in Texas, this film feels pressing.
