I wish the rest of the film was as sweet (😉) as that ending. I have mixed feelings about this one. The cabin sequence was intense (and thorough), then it kind of fizzled (maybe that was the point?). Docked a few stars for clunky dialogue, shaky handheld, and the way the actual rape scene was filmed. I also didn’t find it as brutal as the internet made it out to be.

I don’t think I breathed once during the final fifteen minutes of this film.

The set design, use of color, and TWIN PEAKS-esque weirdness of the first half got my attention. Things went horribly wrong from there. 1 star mess with a half star for ambition.

This was fine, but ultimately repetitive. I also spent the entire movie distracted by the fact each apartment had an outswing (pull towards you) front door.

The most opportune film of the festival. Great color palette and dynamic between the two leads. Fantastic craftsmanship and quite metaphorical, but this may get lost among impending pandemic and isolation films. (I hope it doesn’t.)

Mostly tense and well-acted, but fairly predictable. I’ve come to the conclusion I’m just not a big fan of this type of movie (bleak and cruel for the sake of being bleak and cruel).

The concept of a werewolf period piece is cool! So why was this generic and bland? Disappointing. Someone make a good nineteenth century shapeshifter movie, please.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this extraordinary documentary? What a harrowing story. I don’t usually seek out animated films, but I’m really glad I watched this.

Dedicated throwback aesthetic that needed more gore, especially for the video nasty commentary. Reminiscent of something you’d find on late night cable. I liked this for the most part, yet somehow a feature didn’t feel like the right medium.

Exactly what you’d expect from a psychedelic folk horror film by Ben Wheatley. The score and cinematography, particularly the experimental shots in the third act, were the highlights for me. High 3.5 stars.
