Iain Dickie’s review published on Letterboxd:
2nd Letterboxd festival.
I was fairly enjoying this for the first 2/3's of the film, what killed it for me is the draw out finale. The film is convoluted by expostion in the news reports and I hated Justin Timberlake's smug narration.
What I liked was Sean Willam Scott and The Rock, when they were on screen I was interested, not so much when they weren't. The ideas were good but the delivery was a bit confusing and muddled, and I think Kelly was throwing to much at the viewer. Southland Tales was nowhere near as good as Donnie Darko, but miles better than the shit fest that was The Box.
