    “We can’t leave... without saying goodnight.”

    the benefits of ALIEN 3 production being a disaster is it created two genuinely worthwhile films: ALIEN 3’s Assembly Cut and PITCH BLACK. ALIEN 3 is far superior but I’m glad this exists. So awesome to have a decently budgeted creature feature with a pretty vicious streak to it. Fun movie night flick too.

    Bullshit “are you triggered” snide writing aside, this is just wayyy too fucking long. And yet, I’m swept up in all the bullshit. Zahler’s rhythmic dialogue and violent punctuations are almost Lynchian in this, stagnant until they erupt faster than we can keep up with. It’s brutal and exploitative but also cleanly shot, accompanied by *great* sound design where the impacts of the bullets sound like tiny little sledgehammers breaking away at the human form.
