    The Burial of Kojo

    ★★★★½

    This is a beautifully strange modern fairy tale that mixes modern elements with Ghanean folklore. As you can see from the pictures, Blitz Bazawule, in his directorial debut, has an incredible eye for stunning images. From that opening shot of Kojo on the beach in front of a car on fire in the shore to some upside down shots of the otherwordly plane of existence. This is a visual joy.

    This is one of those films that I really wanted to fall in love with. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is definitely the best thing about the absolute mess that was Suicide Squad. The problem is with this film is that it has a messy story that is not easy to follow and the performances range from incredibly over the top to a little too understated.

    A little on the messy side, but with an incredible performance by Delroy Lindo. Spike Lee has never been too much into subtlety and that has never really bothers me, so I don't mind the moments where he calls out Trump and his followers.
